Cast : Isobel "Izzie" Stevens

CHARACTER

Seattle Grace Hospital
Intern Quarterly Evaluation

----------------------------------------------------
Physician's Name : Isobel 'Izzie' Stevens
Service : Surgery
Evaluator's Name : Dr. Calliope Torres
----------------------------------------------------

Strengths:
I guess one could say Stevens really cares for her patients well-being? They all seem to really like her and people request her in the Clinic because of her bedside manner. And I guess she did donate 8 million dollars to build a free clinic.

Weaknesses:
Stevens can't seem to find the line of professionlism because let's face it she's always crossing it. Examples: She's gotten romantically involved with a patient, she flirts with other women's husbands, she's anonymously paid for a patient's surgery and she just speaks her mind. She's WAY TOO PERSONALLY INVOLVED. Even her own interns think she's a little in over her head. They all talk about her behind her back. But who's to say it's not deserved.

Past Performance at SGH:
Although I've heard rumors that Stevens has made a couple of saves as an intern (apparently she drilled burr holes by herself on the ferry or something), it should be noted that she spent a significant chunk of her internship on probation.

Additional Comments:
Confidentially, I'd like to say I'm not sure why Stevens is still even allowed to step foot in this hospital after the whole Denny Duquette matter. But, I guess I'm not only Chief Resident, not Chief of Surgery.

Interview Transcript
Seattle Grace Residency Program

Candidate For Internship: Isobel Stevens
Interviewer: Barclay Faust, M.D., Associate Director of the SGH Residency Program

INTERVIEWER:
So, Isobel.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Call me Izzie.

INTERVIEWER:
In your application, Izzie, you refer to yourself as very "self-reliant." How so?

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Let's just say my parents weren't always there to support me financially.

INTERVIEWER:
But they were there for you emotionally, that's what counts.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Not really that either.

INTERVIEWER:
Well, at last they provided you with four walls and a roof over your head.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
We lived in a trailer.

INTERVIEWER:
Well, you've come quite a long way.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
What's that supposed to mean? Because I no longer live in home with a parking break, I'm a better person now?

INTERVIEWER:
No, not at all. I just meant, you must've worked hard, saved a lot of money.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
And I'm debt-free.

INTERVIEWER:
Really? That's a lot of debt to erase. What were you doing while in med school, practicing medicine? [laughs]

ISOBEL STEVENS:
This is funny to you? This is my life we're talking about medical school is expensive. I had to do whatever I could to pay for it.

INTERVIEWER:
Oh my god, you were a stripper.

ISOBEL STEVENS:
No! What kind of girl do you think I am?

INTERVIEWER:
It's just that when you said "had to do whatever I could" I thought you were implying took your clothes off or something. laughs Thank goodness I was wrong. So what did you do?

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Does it really matter? I mean, it's in the past. My grades are stellar. My recommendations are examplary. Do we really have to talk about this now? During the interview? It was my understanding that this was just a formality, anyway.

INTERVIEWER:
Okay. [Puts down pen] Interview is over. You seem like Seattle Grace material. But I'm curious I get a lot of med students asking me about debt reduction. What's your secret?

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Mumbles something barely audible.

INTERVIEWER:
What was that?

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Modeling

INTERVIEWER:
Runway Model?

ISOBEL STEVENS:
Lingerie

INTERVIEWER:
Oh, Well, at least you weren't pole dancing.

AS PLAYED BY KATHERINE HEIGL

Born in Washington, DC, but raised in New Canaan, Connecticut, Katherine Heigl began her career at the age of nine as a child model. It wasn't long before she graduated to commercial work, which opened the door to auditions for film roles. By age 12 she made her feature debut in "That Night," starring Juliette Lewis and C. Thomas Howell. Heigl sa since emerged as one of Hollywood's brightest talents on both the silver screen and on television.

This summer Heigl could be seen starring in the romantic comedy "Knocked Up," directed by Judd Apatow and co-staring Seth Rogan. During the summer hiatus she also filmed the romantic comedy, "27 Dresses," co-starring James Marsden and Malin Akerman, about a young woman who, having been a bridesmaid 27 times, wrestles with the prospect of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with.

Heigl's previous film credits include "The Ringer," the horror film "Valentine," Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed depression-era drama, "King of the Hill," "Under Siega 2: Dark Territory," "Stand-Ins" and "That Night." Her first leading role was in Touchstone Pictures' "My Father the Hero," opposite Gerard Depardieu.

On television she starred on the WB's sci-fi drama series, "Roswell." Additional TV credits include the Hallmark Channel's "Love Comes Softly," TBS' "Evil Never Dies" and "Love's Enduring Promise."

This past year Heigl received a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens, the small-town girl who is constantly battling for respect amongst her peers on the award-winning drama "Grey's Anatomy."

CHARACTER

No one dies on this man's watch. He's a brilliant heart surgeon and a kind, compassionate person. The consummate professional, and a great cook to boot. What's not to love about Dr. Burke?

Preston grew up in Alabama, where his mother owns a restaurant. He is the chief cardio-thorasic surgeon at Seattle Grace, and is known for his grace under pressure as well as his incredible scalpel skills. Seriously, you cannot rattle the guy in the operating room or in real life. Cristina Yang has tried during her romance with the handsome physician, which he initially broke off because of concern for his reputation.

The polar opposites are back together now, however, and Cristina recently moved into his apartment. The evolution of their relationship despite many personality differences has been a focal point of Grey's Anatomy in recent weeks. Preston has also warmed up to Derek Shepherd, despite initial friction between the two surgical all-stars.

AS PLAYED BY ISAIAH WASHINGTON

A native of Houston, Texas, Isaiah Washington spent four years in the Air Force before studying drama at Washington, DC's Howard University. While at Howard, he won a role in the play Spell #7 and then moved to New York to further pursue his career. There he appeared in a number of stage productions, including August Wilson's Fences and Thornton Wilder's Skin of Our Teeth. With a passion for theater, Washington became one of the founding members of City Kids Repertory, a theater group that visits high schools and community centers throughout New York.

Washington first made his mark in cinema in gritty crime dramas and romantic ensemble comedies. He has been featured in four acclaimed Spike Lee films: Crooklyn, Clockers, Girl 6, and Girl on the Bus. Other feature credits include Exit Wounds, Romeo Must Die, True Crime, Bulworth, Out of Sight, Love Jones, Dead Presidents, Stonewall, Strictly Business and the acclaimed Dancing in September - a performance which earned him a nomination for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor.

CHARACTER

Seattle Grace Hospital
Intern Quarterly Evaluation

----------------------------------------------------
Physician's Name : Cristina Yang
Service : Surgery
Evaluator's Name : Dr. Calliope Torres
----------------------------------------------------

Strengths:
Having achived both medical and doctorate degrees, it's no question that Cristina is indeed a genius. And Yang knows the heart inside out. I must say, she will do ANYTHING to be a Cardio.

Weaknesses:
Cristina unfortunately doesn't seem to have the most delicate of beside manners. She tends to focus solely on the medical, sometimes forgetting that some patients are more sensitive than others. Even if she can sofeten up a tiny bit and realize there is more to surgery than just the actual cutting, Yang will easily become an excellent surgeon. And maybe if she learns her interns actual names, rather than just calling them numbers. That would help her as well.

Past Performance at SGH:
An amazing student, Yang's dedication, however, in my opinion, sometimes borders on the extreme side. She did compromise her career in helping to hide Dr. Burke's tremor last year, literally becoming his right hand in surgery, even doing some procedures completely on her own. But to her credit, she made the right decision and went to the chief to inform him of Burke's disability.

Additional Comments:
A quick personal note: There's a grat deal of pressure when one works with one's significant other, therefore I'd like to commend Yang on the way she eventually handles the Burke situation.

CHARACTER

FROM THE DESK OF RICHARD WEBBER
Chief of Surgery, Seattle Grace Hospital

March 15, 2005

Derek,

I'm sorry to hear New York has lost its luster in your eyes. I hope it's only temporary, but Manhattan's loss can be Seattle's gain, as I would love to have you on our team. Who knows, if you decide to settle out here permanently, your role here could expand greatly. I can honestly say you're the beat neurosurgeon I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have operate on my brain (knock on wood). Give me a call when you get in town and we'll start getting things set up. A warning, though, once we set the ball in motion, it cannot be stopped. So think very carefully about what you're doing. It's a big change. If you still decide to go through with the move, Seattle Grace will be waiting for you.

Best,
Richard

PS I hope you haven't lost a step fly fishing because that's the first, second, and third thing we'll be doing when you get out there.
